Jerry challendged me to start a new topic area for ideas for next IASH conference.
Any ideas out there?
What did you like best?
My one big idea is that I would like to see more small presentations and have the one hour presentations not competing with the "big" ones like everyone wants to go to Don, Judy, Suzi, Tim, etc. Start out the morning with one or two of them for maybe a 2 hour session, then a break for and 6-8 smaller 1 hour sessions with a plethora of the lesser know but very good lectures.
sort of like this
9-11 one or two big name sessions held concurrently
11-12 6-8 lesser known speakers
12-1 6-8 lesser known speakers
1-2 6-8 lesser known speakers
2-3 6-8 lesser known speakers
3-5 one or two big name sessions
Have speakers go right through lunch and participants could choose to eat when the sessions least interesting were being presented.
Maybe have a really big session or group meeting Saturday night. like Tim's Spin thing, that was fun and could go from 7-10.
Keep the rest short and allow people to broaden in many areas.
Personally I liked the variety and sometimes I resented the three hour sessions because I couldn't get the shorter sessions once I chose a long one and every session I attended was supurb.
