It is very common to equate the process of aging with the passage of time. And indeed there is a lot that occurs in our lives that is intimately related to time passing. A newborn is much shorter and lighter than an 18 year old; the skin of a 10 year old is smoother and tighter than that of a 45 year old. A 35 y/o can normally speak, read, write, understand politics and engage in an intimate relationship in ways that a 9 y/o cannot do.

Once we are past the initial growing years the passage of time no longer needs to determine the aging process. It is rather how we are and what we do during that time that matters. You probably know at least one 35 or even 25 y/o person that you’d consider “old” and another person that is 60, 70 or even 80 y/o that feels, acts and looks young.

In my practice I work with many babies and children with developmental challenges on the one hand and with adults with a variety of “aging” issues like: pain, loss of mobility, loss of strength, anxiety, diminished intelligence, and diminished vibrancy on the other. It has become apparent to me that there are very specific qualities that underlie youthfulness. These qualities are essential for any child to grow and develop. The very same qualities are also essential in order for us to be and stay youthful throughout life. I named those qualities the Essentials For Vitality™.

Frequently some, if not all, of these essentials are lost over time. However, they can be regained very readily at any age. These qualities are so much a part of our true nature that we can recognize them easily, know whether we lost any of them, and take immediate steps to regenerate them.

In this seminar Ms. Baniel will lead you through a movement process applying some of the essentials for vitality. You’ll experience immediate regeneration of youthful qualities like increased flexibility, playfulness, curiosity, and energy. She will also introduce you to some of the theoretical basis for the Essentials For Vitality™ so that you could begin immediately applying it in your daily life. You could also bring these understandings into your practice working with your own clients.

Mr. Kurt Miller, an Anat Baniel Method Practitioner will teach a second Transformational Movement LessonSM for further learning and outcomes.


  Kurt Miller is an Alternative Medical Practitioner with a specialty in Feldenkrais Method® of neuromuscular education; experience teaching all ages, from infants to seniors, athletes and performing artists, and people with disabilities and chronic pain.  He has a broad-based related background in health and fitness training for performance enhancement and pain relief; extensive training in Iyengar yoga, Asian healing arts, and traditional Chinese and Korean martial arts.  He has been a member of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America since 1994. Kurt is also a member of the North American Tang Shou Tao Association.


As a world-renowned practitioner and founder of the Anat Baniel Method, Ms. Baniel studied and worked closely with Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais for many years as a trusted teacher and trainer. Following her training in 1975, Dr. Feldenkrais designated her specifically to work with special needs children, and mentored her throughout the remainder of his life to hone her skills.  His most memorable reference to her work with children was that the progress she evoked in these children “had to be seen to be believed.”  Anat has specialized in working with special needs children for over two decades.  Her clients include children with cerebral palsy, brain damage, and genetic disorders such as Fragile X.

Having a background in dance, in 1975 Ms Baniel also began working with dancers in the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. After moving to New York City, where she developed an extensive private practice, she began working with world class musicians, including the Tanglewood Music Center and the San Francisco Symphony musicians.

In addition to this work, she has worked with chronic pain sufferers helping restore them to more active pain free lives and also has years of experience working with high performance athletes.

During her career she has trained more than a thousand practitioners in the Feldenkrais Method®. In1999 using Dr. Feldenkrais’ training, combined with her 25 years of practice, she founded the Anat Baniel Method in order to further evolve her work and continue to apply it to a wide range of situations and needs.

In developing her training in the Anat Baniel Method, she has taken the traditional Feldenkrais 160 day training, distilled and transformed it into a 90 day training that is highly accessible and effective that includes not only the Feldenkrais knowledge, but also her own knowledge and evolution that is the Anat Baniel Method.

After the 90 day program, she has created continuing Mastery Programs where her graduates can specialize in the areas of: children with special needs, Anti-Aging and Vitality, and High Performers.

Her skills and seemingly innate abilities can and have been taught to other practitioners that she has trained. Her graduates are able to work effectively with the general population, with children with special needs, and with high performers.
