Hypnosis for Surgery

Non-Pharmacological Analgesia . . . learn techniques of this remarkable tool, reducing the need for drugs (and their possible complications) to eliminate pain while increasing patient comfort during minimally invasive surgical procedures. Training video and case presentation are included. Appropriate for all medical personnel, surgical procedures and those interested in mind-body communication.

Eleanor D. Laser, Ph.D is a clinical psychotherapist specializing in medical hypnosis and hypnotherapy. She further employs NLP, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Adlerian psychology. A pioneer in the field of non-pharmacological analgesia, she trains and presents for universities, hospitals and medical schools.

Explorations of the Mind:Mind/Body Interface

Imagine a structure in which form follows thought...so integrated that any sensory input is instantly transformed into matter. This magnificent structure is your body. In this presentation we will demonstrate some very effective methods for integrating NLP with somatic techniques. This combination enhances change in relationship to state dependent memories and nervous system response patterns.

Shanti and Richard Dureé are internationally known educators, authors, counselors and Specialized Kinesiologists. Richard worked for many years with Olympic and world class professional athletes, and serves on the IASH board. Shanti trained in Gestalt Movement Therapy, massage therapy, Ortho-bionomy, Reiki, yoga, Polarity Therapy, NLP and women's studies. Together, they teach numerous kinesiological programs and other workshops. They maintain private practice in Sweden, Germany, California and Oregon.

Health Magic at Meta Levels

Since meaning always operates in a context - the meanings that get programmed into the body which then generate ill-health and dis-ease occur within some meta-level structure. Participants will first learn about the flexible logical levels that work in Meta-States, the power of frames that create various contexts, and a couple of meta-stating patterns for transforming toxic frames into frames for vitality and well-being.

Michael Hall, Ph.D. is an international NLP trainer, author of numerous books in NLP (Spirit of NLP, Ferocious Presenter, Meta-States, Dragon Slaying, Figuring Out People, Time-Lining, NLP: Going Meta Into Logical Levels, How To Do What When, etc.), and is currently traveling full-time doing Meta-state Training and Certification.

Getting Started with an NLP/Health Research Project

This session introduces the basic steps in designing and conducting a health-related research project in the field of NLP. Developing research ideas, assembling a research team, identifying common research mistakes are covered with a hands-on opportunity to get started with a research project. (Bring an idea!)

NLP and the Highly Sensitive Person

Understanding the newly discovered Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) trait, prevalent in 15-20% of the population, will allow NLP Practitioners to identify and improve the physical and mental health of their HSP clients. Included: how to identify HSP's, difficulties HSPs typically experience, and some appropriate NLP tools and interventions.

Rob Ryder is a Master Practitioner and has been involved with NLP for 14 years. Equipped with an engineering degree and an MBA from U. C. Berkeley, his business career has been in engineering, sales and management. Rob is also a Certified Massage Therapist, glider pilot, and inventor. Currently, he is a Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Energy.

Turning the Cancer Corner

In January of 1997, Sharon Norton was diagnosed with bone cancer. She enlisted the help of Clinton and Edna Clay. The three presenters will describe their individual roles in this process. Sharon as "explorer"; Clinton as "therapist/guide"; Edna as "meta person/friend." The interweaving of these three dimensions will be shared.

People experience addictions in many ways. The item craved is in control, has the power...not the person. Co-dependent or inter-dependent relationships exhibit many similarities to addictions. Enmeshed relationships call for strong solutions. A combination of strategies to put the control back in the client's lap for relief, peace and freedom.

Intervention Paths for Serious Illness

Some ideas, models and general processes for helping people to help themselves to regain health in the face of serious diseases such as cancer. Any disease, especially a serious one, is a multi-level cause signal. In this workshop, we'll explore a general approach with some special hints for serious illness.

The Heart of the Challenge

Challenge Course techniques, along with NLP Master Practitioner and Gestalt concepts, to offer participants experiential activities which will allow them to learn how to trust themselves and to accept support from others, thereby encouraging personal health and well-being. NLP Hermeneutics of Mind in Weight Loss Process

Being overweight is a health hazard. We present one author's process of losing 100 lbs. and maintaining the desired weight for 7 years. We look at the structure of internal experience, strategies for loss of weight and for maintaining at the desired weight. We look at outcome frames, at re-framing and at maintaining boundaries.

Rita Weinberg, Ph.D. is Professor of Psychology at National-Louis University, Wheeling, Illinois. She is an NLP trainer and has given many presentations at NLP meetings. Her current research deals with the use of metaphors contextually and with using NLP technology in schools.

Carol Cortilet, M.S. in Writing and M.Ad.Ed. Adult Education, is a doctoral student in Educational Psychology and an instructor in writing at National-Louis University.

Metaphoric Model for Self-Healing

This workshop teaches the Parts Delegation Model for self-generative healing plus a monitoring system which maximizes the possibility that what you ask a part of the mind to do, it will do. It includes seven areas of application. It allows you to do meaningful work at the deepest levels of the unconscious safely, with a minimal of hypnosis and NLP skills.

Robert W. Fletcher is an educator who, after 28 years of working with the deaf and blind special needs students, left public education to apply his skills as an NLP consultant and hypnotherapist. He has been doing private consulting for the past 13 years. Happily married for 37 years, he has 8 children and 15 grandchildren.

A Compelling Self-Image through IDEA Model

Having a road map certainly helps get from one location to another. Similarly, having a well-formed image of a "compelling healthy self" allows us to have a road map to health. Explore how Internal Dominant Eye Accessing (IDEA Model) can assist in combining information from both hemispheres of the brain in forming a compelling self-image of the healthy you.

The Slingshot Technique

A new tool for managing depression, low self-esteem or procrastination. The Slingshot Technique persuasively reframes the behavior/capabilities of being depressed, having low self-esteem or procrastinating as more work and more difficult than being happy, having a responsible opinion of yourself or being productive. This leads to releasing those behaviors/capabilities in favor of the more life-affirming ones.

Mary Vanderwart, Ph.D. and Kevin Creedon, C.F.P. are the founders of the Dynamic Wellness Center of New York. Mary is a psychologist specializing in health and addictions. Kevin is a Feldenkrais Practitioner and NLPer who works with people with serious health issues and performance issues.

Come along on a tour of the world from the perspective of one young man on a personal pilgrimage in search of healers. Living day to day with the people he visited, Jim Martin found himself on a journey of discovery in many of the most spectacularly beautiful and spiritually powerful places on the planet. He was blessed with the rare opportunity to follow the seasons, festivals, teachings and tips from fellow travelers.

Jim Martin, Lic. Ac. In 1973, Jim put on his backpack, wished his friends and family well and set out to hitch-hike around the world. He returned in 1980 with several broken bones, a very battered backpack and a wealth of stories from adventures in over forty countries in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Jim has since added adventures in New Zealand, Hawaii and the American Southwest, including experiences with a Lakota Sioux medicine family.
